In 2018, the fourth ever Invictus Games was held in Sydney, Australia, with competitors from 18 countries showcasing their impressive grit and determination. The Invictus Games is an international, multi-sport event in which wounded, injured or sick service men and women take part across a number of adaptive disciplines.

The week-long event saw personal victories for more than 500 competitors. While some took home medals, each and every competitor deserves gold for overcoming their personal challenges.

Invictus Games chose Workwear Group to provide the uniforms for more than 1,000 dedicated volunteers, technical support and medical staff.

Steve Ciuffini, General Manager of Sales at Workwear Group says “there was a lot of long days for the hard-working volunteers of the Invictus Games, and we were delighted to dress them in our comfortable and functional workwear – we really understand that when it comes to workwear, ‘comfort is important.”

Invictus Games is unique in that it runs over a short period. The organising committee isn’t afforded a long lead time to plan and deliver such a complex event and thus many last-minute decisions and at times a frantic work environment is common. Tim Hodgson, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer at Invictus Games says, “we needed partners who could be fast, efficient and flexible. Workwear Group was not only passionate about the project and the cause, but also approached the task with a solution-based mindset, collaborate and inclusive style and a ‘can-do’ attitude to made it easier to deliver a uniform solution we were all very proud of.”

The uniforms were also a big hit with the thousands of volunteers and officials who wore them. Marisa Beaumont-Conway, a volunteer at the Games, says, “the uniforms were superb! They were a perfect fit and comfortable during some very hectic days. The finish and quality of the printing and embroidery were excellent. I was proud to look so professional and make an impression with my bright yellow uniform while representing the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 brand.”

Marisa went on to say the uniforms were durable and withstood daily washing and ironing and maintained its fit and functionality throughout the event.

Workwear Group is behind many iconic Australian uniforms – from dressing soldiers throughout past wars to clothing the workers who built the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and right through to today, proudly dressings Australian icons such as QANTAS. So it makes perfect sense that Workwear Group was the uniform provider for yet another exciting chapter in Australia’s history.

“Invictus is Latin and means unconquered, it is this unconquered spirit that makes our Games so special. When the opportunity arose, we were delighted to partner with Workwear Group as their core values align so closely with ours. It is this, along with a demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional and unique workforce uniforms to large scale events really sets them apart.”
